Closed Loop water system: We have paved the entire Ready Mix production area with concrete. This enabled us to capture all of the excess production water which escapes from the loading point and the truck slump up area. This water is diverted into a four part settling pond and is reused for the end of day truck mixer washout, which in turn is emptied into the settling pond and is reused again and again.
Cement overflow pinch valves: This system was installed in order to keep the cement delivery carrier from blowing out our bag house which collects all the tiny cement particles. Once a bag house is blown out there is a considerable amount of cement dust released into the environment. This system works once the cement gets to a certain level inside the silo. Once this level is achieved, there is a signal which is sent down to the main control panel. There is then a siren which goes off to warn the person operating the cement carrier. He or She then has 30 seconds to shut down the carrier blower before the pinch valves are activated to stop the flow of cement from entering the silo.
Liquid Colour System: This system was not only installed to make a better product but also to eliminate the powdered pigment which was used prior to this system. The powder pigment was a very dirty system and there was always air borne particles in the air when we were using it.
Damp proofing and waterproof products: These water based products are environmentally friendly providing safe and responsibility to our environment.
Constructing with Insulated Concrete Forms: An excellent method of Green Construction as it assists in the reduction energy costs. Constructing with ICF’s is an excellent opportunity to achieve points towards LEEDs certification (Leadership in Energy & environmental Design) of new buildings. Cotton constantly investigates alternate methods of construction to provide you more options and to be sensitive to the environment. Cotton can also assist you in meeting the requirements required for Energy Star Certification when constructing your foundation or above grade construction.
