Foundations

If you're building a new home or adding on to it, would it not be more efficient and cost effective if you could simply pick up the phone and call one contractor for all of your foundation and flatwork needs?

Whether it's a foundation or a basement floor, a driveway, patio or a sidewalk, with Cotton you are sure to have the various trades and all necessary manpower coordinated. All of the necessary city inspections will be scheduled and all services located.  Our quality is of the highest standards.

At Cotton that's all it takes. Just call one of our experienced project coordinators and we'll start working on a detailed estimate based on your exact specifications. We'll visit the site of your project and identify your material requirements and then review the estimate with you to ensure its accuracy.

Why do we put so much detail into our estimates?

Cotton believes in being thorough. You won't be surprised by any hidden costs, because there aren't any.

When the estimate is approved we'll schedule the excavation and finalize the site drawings and surveys for the excavation layout. We'll also oversee the locates for the buried services to avoid any potential damage or safety issues.

Cotton then creates a field package for the excavation team to distribute the grading plan, locate sheets and schedule the manpower and materials required for your project.

Before the excavation is completed and the water and sewer services are brought in, the Cotton team will coordinate with city authorities for an initial inspection. A surveyor will then perform a precise layout so we can accurately form and pour the concrete footings. To provide ample drainage during the wet season, Cotton installs poly weeping tiles around the footings and protects them with a layer of stone. That same stone is also used as base layer for the basement floor.

After the footings are cured, forming and pouring of the basement walls is performed. This includes all necessary anchor bolts and installation of the foundation windows.

To protect your home against long term water seepage, Cotton also installs a waterproofing or drainage layer to the exterior of your foundation walls.

When the foundation is cured, a final city inspection is performed to ensure the walls have been formed according to the plan and that all stringent building codes have been met. Cotton then backfills around the foundation while cutting and stoning the driveway. This synchronized effort is not only cost effective, it also provides easier access for future trades.

Once your foundation walls are complete, Cotton rakes and levels the basement stone to create a uniform base for the floor slab.

As with any new home or addition, after the backfill has settled, Cotton will return to install the garage floors and porch slabs, plus the concrete driveway, making your home even more attractive while also adding value to your investment.

In essence Cotton will manage every aspect of your project to ensure your complete satisfaction.
